The other qualifications required to become an SIA trainer are:

  • A minimum of 2 years of frontline security experience in the last 5 years in the UK. This experience must be in the sector that you wish to teach. For example, if you want to teach door supervisor courses, you must have 2 years of experience as a door supervisor.
  • A teaching qualification. This can be a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET).
  • A good understanding of the SIA’s training requirements and standards.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and motivate learners.
  • The ability to create and deliver engaging and effective training sessions.

In addition to these qualifications, you may also want to consider gaining some industry-specific qualifications, such as a Level 3 Certificate in Door Supervision or a Level 3 Certificate in CCTV Operations. These qualifications will demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the specific area that you want to teach.

Once you have met the necessary qualifications, you can apply to become an SIA-approved trainer. The SIA will then assess your application and decide whether to approve you.
