  • Scenario-based questions that describe a situation and ask how you should respond.
  • Questions that cover details like legal powers, licensing objectives, first aid procedures, etc.
  • Questions with images like CCTV screenshots that you analyze.

There are typically 60-80 exam questions. Time allowed is normally 1-1.5 hours. Questions are randomly pulled from a bank, so exams vary.

Tips for MCQ Exams:

  • Carefully read each question and all options before answering.
  • Manage your time by pacing yourself with harder vs easier questions.
  • If stuck, flag questions to come back to later. Don’t leave any unanswered.
  • Use the process of elimination to get rid of definitely wrong options.
  • Don’t overthink questions – go with your first instinct if unsure.

Practical Assessments

These assess your competency with required skills through observed demonstrations such as:

  • Physical Interventions – Performing restraint holds, escort procedures, ground pinning, etc. Both solo and team methods may be tested.
  • Emergency Response – Demonstrating first aid, CPR, fire extinguisher use, etc.
  • Communication – Diffusing mock confrontations, giving instructions to crowds, responding to licensing breaches, etc.
  • Searching – Conducting search procedures on a person for prohibited items.
  • Written Scenarios – Assessing scenes and writing how you would respond.

Your assessor will use score sheets to grade you on factors like technique, safety, proportionality, communication, and compliance.

Tips for Practical Assessments:

  • Review the assessment criteria so you know what competencies examiners are looking for.
  • Pace yourself, communicate clearly, and perform each skill as taught during training.
  • If you make a mistake, take instruction from the assessor and continue. Don’t let it throw you off.
  • Listen carefully to the setup and any instructions or cues from your assessor.
  • Ask clarifying questions if unsure about any aspects of the assessment.

Grading and Results

To pass, you typically need:

  • 70% correct on MCQ exams
  • 60% or higher on each practical assessment

Your trainer will advise you on the specific pass marks and grading details. Results are usually available straight after the assessments or within a few days.

Be prepared to demonstrate your abilities under pressure! With practice and confidence, you can achieve certification success.

When Are Assessments Held?

Level 2 Door Supervisor courses structure assessments in different ways. Some common timelines are:

  • Re-sits taken 1-2 weeks after initial attempt.
  • Only 1 re-sit allowed per assessment.
