Can I Retake The Level 2 Upskilling Door Supervisor Top Up Certification If I Fail In The First Attempt

Failing an exam is never fun. It can be especially discouraging when you’ve put in the time and effort to prepare, only to come up short on test day.

But the good news is that with the Level 2 Upskilling Door Supervisor Top Up certification, you do have the option to retake the exam if you don’t pass on the first attempt.

As a Level 2 student or teacher, you’re probably wondering: can I retake the Level 2 Upskilling Door Supervisor Top Up certification exam if I fail the first time?

The short answer is yes. You can retake the exam multiple times if needed. There’s no limit on how many times you can attempt the test.

This is important to know because it means you have multiple opportunities to meet the passing standard. The creators of the certification understand that people learn at different paces.

Plus, test anxiety or other factors can sometimes cause someone’s performance to suffer on exam day. Allowing retakes gives candidates a chance to redeem themselves.

According to 2022 data from the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the organization that regulates and issues the certification, approximately 23% of people fail the Level 2 Upskilling Door Supervisor Top Up exam on their first try.

But many go on to pass it on their second or third attempt. So if you unfortunately fail on your first go-around, you’re definitely not alone.

Tips To Improve Your Chances If You End Up Retaking The Level 2 Certification!

Here are a few tips to improve your chances if you end up retaking the Level 2 certification:

  • Carefully review your exam results/score report. This will show the subject areas where you scored lowest. Target your studying to brush up on these topics.
  • Enroll in a preparation course, if you didn’t take one already. Many colleges and test prep companies offer classes that cover the material through lectures, sample tests, and other methods. This can help strengthen your knowledge.
  • Study with a friend or group. You can quiz each other on practice questions and simulate the exam experience.
  • Work on your test-taking skills in general. Techniques like pacing yourself and staying calm during the test can help you perform better.
  • Get plenty of rest the night before. Being tired hampers concentration and recall.

When scheduling your retake, you’ll want to leave some time between attempts – but not too much. The SIA recommends allowing at least 7 days between exams, but taking it within a few weeks or months helps keep the material fresh. Too long of a gap can mean having to relearn some information.

Retake fees vary, but are generally around £30 per attempt. This cost may be reduced under certain circumstances, like for students under 26 years old. Booking the retake is done directly through the SIA. Their website has full details on the process.

The great news is that your prior preparation and knowledge won’t go to waste. You can leverage everything you learned for the first exam when you tackle it again.

With determination and diligent studying, many Door Supervisor students who initially fail go on to pass the retake.

The key is to remain positive and keep your eyes on the ultimate goal. Having that Level 2 certification on your resume can open up all kinds of career opportunities.

The ability to retake the test lets you get right back up and try again if your first attempt wasn’t successful.
